MORESBY Northeast Andrew Mald Christmas Cup grand finals will start tomorrow at the nine locations.
Programme chairman Rex Kuman said Laloki, 8-Mile Morobe Block, New Erima, Erima settlement, 4-Mile Works, 6-Mile Saraga, 9-Mile Makana Kukipi, Mango Minne and ATS Oro had their respective finals.
Kuman said they would be competing for K1,000 for the champions, the runners-up would bag K500, third placing would pick up K250 and the rest of teams would walk away with consolation prizes.
He said all the champion teams in the respective locations would qualify for the MNE Mald Christmas Cup challenge to playoff for the major crowns in touch footy, basketball, volleyball and soccer.
MNE Mald Cup executive officer Simon Nauowa added that technical officials from Port Moresby Soccer Association and NCD Volleyball Association had been engaged to officiate at the finals in basketball and touch footy.
He appealed to respective coordinators to control their players and fans during the games which would coincide with the Christmas spirit.
Nauowa said he would like to ensure everyone was in the true spirit of Christmas and would not tolerate any violence.
He warned players and fans disrupting games that would be dealt with severely by police personnel and would be exempted from participating in future activities.
“Some youths think they are above the law and harass coordinators, technical officials and players.”
