NATIONAL Capital District police have already started their Christmas operations, says Met Supt Perou N’dranou.
N’dranou after a brief with section heads yesterday said about 1,800 police personnel from various units would be involved in the operation, however they were spread thinly over the city and encourage the public to celebrate responsibly.
He said police had already started doing patrols and road checks in the city to ensure that there was high police visibility leading up to the New Year.
“We have about 1,809 police officers from various units who will be involved: the police band, water police, SSD (Special Squad Directorate), Delta and the National Capital District Commission reservists.
“We will do for the weeks leading to Christmas and the New Year to ensure that the environment is safe for residents.
“We did well in the last two years, and I would like them to do the same by being responsible and celebrate responsibly and not to cause inconvenience for anyone including their neighbours, and we should have no problem,” N’dranou said.
