Church circuit raises K73,000

THE Zaka circuit’s 100-year anniversary committee in Morobe patrol post, Huon Gulf district, Morobe province raised K72,560.24 to organise the event last December.
Local and overseas delegates attended the Lutheran church celebrations held at Toyare Primary School.
Committee treasurer Ezekiel Bage said the seven local parishes in Zaka circuit – Nange, Duka, Sado, St John, Yekora, Kowabaso and Zamai – had raised K9,210.35.
He said people from urban areas gave K8,808.80.
Bage said the Huon Gulf district administration and MP Sasa Zibe gave a total of K25,000.
That amount went into the K54,541.09 collected from overseas and local supporters.
He said they received K72,560.24 and thanked the church faithful for their contributions.
From the amount received, the committee spent K62,024.47 on organising and meeting costs.
Bage said K10,183.41 was spent to settle the debts acquired during the event.
He said the balance of K352.36 had been left in the account.
Bage said the St Sado parish was now taking the lead to complete a monument set up at Zaka mission station.
