A-one week youth conference organised by the Evangelical Lutheran church focused on how they can change their lives.
The Ukata youth conference was held at the Bungawat parish last week.
Parish pastor Roy Getam said the conference focused on driving change through awareness and programmes.
“Most problems in the communities are caused by unsatisfied youths. To address those issues, the conference was told to engage youths in activities that they will enjoy and keep them occupied,” he said.
“Involve them in workshops, and train them to go to various communities to do awareness on different issues affecting young people. By doing that, they can bring to light others to work for common good.
“The government and church leaders should work together to make all these possible if they are keen to see changes.”
Participant Johna Epemu said youths should be physically and spiritually fit in taking their community forward.
“Activities like sports is enjoyed by most youths and it is one way that they can be involved in building their lives”
