ALL elected members of parliament have been urged to seek God’s wisdom and guidance in deciding who to be associated with during the formation of government.
Rabaul District Council of Chambers of Churches chairman Rev Nakikus Bellie reminded them Papua New Guinea had gone through trying times in the recent past and a repeat should be avoided at all costs.
Bellie made the call when thanking the Electoral Commission, the East New Britain provincial election steering committee and the Rabaul district administration for their support to council members during the implementation of Operation Brukim Skru in the Rabaul district.
He thanked all council members for their participation and successful staging of the operation in the district during the polling and counting periods.
He urged Christians to continue praying for God’s guidance at this crucial time.
“Today, I believe there is a lot of money floating around to lure members of parliament and I call on them to put the interest of their people first and not jump at the money,” Bellie said.
“Members of parliament should treasure the people who gave them the mandate to be in parliament and seek their views on who to be associated with during the next five years in parliament.”
He said PNG had to start afresh and not continue with the kind of leadership and rule experienced in the past.
Bellie has congratulated all members-elect in East New Britain, saying that there had been a prayer answered by God for a continuity of leadership for the steady management of provincial affairs.
He called on political leaders not to look down on churches.
