THE Saint Martin De Porres Catholic Church in Port Moresby expects to complete projects to cater for its growing congregation and community services programmes.

Parish priest, Fr Rozario Menezes said all projects should be completed by early next year, including  fencing, rooms for parish activities and office maintenance.

Moresby North-East MP Michael Malabag has given the parish another K200,000 after he witnessed the successful completion of the church’s numerous projects from a previous donation of K250,000.

Menezes thanked Malabag for recognising the work of the parish in Morata.

He said such assistance would greatly empower the parish to involve more people in its programmes so that they became better citizens.

Malabag gave K250,000 last year during its Feast Day celebration. The  parish used the funds to build a new fence around the church, refurbish and buy medical equipment for the Morata Health Centre, repair air-conditioning in the offices and buy a new church bell from India.

Menezes said his committee had yet to allocate the extra K200,000 given by Malabag to specific church projects for next year.
