About 400 students from Kopkop College and five church groups in Port Moresby observed the “beat plastic pollution” theme of the World Environment Day on Friday.
The principal of lower primary at Kopkop college, Kolyna Sinba, said the day was observed through songs and dances to educate students.
Sinba said Kopkop wanted to teach students and churches their responsibilities about looking after the environment in the communities.
She said people should look after the environment.
The performances were done by the pre-school students from the lower primary school of the college in the presences of five church groups.
All artwork were based on the theme, “Beat plastic pollution”.
“Students all throughout the week had planted trees at churches around the Gerehu suburb,” Sinba said.
She said grades 2, 3, 4 and 5 planted trees.
She said the event was to remind the children and church groups that it was important for us to look after the environment.
