Church helps unemployed learn to be wise with money

Unemployed people need assistance to manage their money, says Kainantu Seventh-day Adventist pastor Yauko Kasave.
He said this after the church facilitated financial awareness course for the unemployed last week at its youth hall.
Kasave said Nambawan Super Goroka branch manager Robert Bobby and MiBank staff conducted the training.
He said participants came from all over Kainantu, including neighbouring Obura-Wonenara district.
“More than 160 people attended the awareness,” Kasave said.
“Fewer people than expected came from rural Kamano 2 LLG of Kainantu and Gadsup LLG of Obura-Wonenara because of bad road conditions caused by continuous rain.
“After the awareness, 89 new Choice Super accounts were opened. Those who do not have existing accounts with Bank South Pacific opened new accounts with MiBank.”
Kasave said the training was conducted in accordance with the calendar of Eastern Highlands-Chimbu Mission of the SDA Church.
He said Kainantu district church leaders were planning for a six-week small-medium enterprises training at Yonki in May.
