THE Undiri Body of Christ in Mendi, Southern Highlands, is holding a back-to-school church programme for students in the province at Umbimi village.
It believes that the spiritual development of the students is more important than any other activity such as sports.
The event previously hosted by the Umbimi Pentecostal Church aims to prepare students for school using religious lessons which will help them become better citizens.
Camp Commander Posu Manua said the programme was opened to all denominations.
Manua said it would be like a mentoring session to help students focus on their education and not be influenced by others which could result in their poor academic performance.
The programme will end tomorrow.
“The province had gone through problems and the future of students is import. They need to be guided by the word of God. With God nothing is impossible,” he said.
Umbimi Pentecostal Church Pastor Moses Kaupa said the church programme was important for students before they go to school.
He said many of the students had witnessed election-related violence in the province and some had been traumatised.
