AS Papua New Guinea celebrated 37 years of Independence, church leaders from the Abunuka Lutheran church, at 9-Mile, outside Lae, Morobe, graduated with certificates.
Eighteen church leaders – six women and 12 men – graduated on Sunday with certificates after taking a course run by their parish pastor, Zawe Sandri.
Sandri said most church leaders preached the word of God but did not know how to help Christians and the course was to build their leadership qualities.
“Leaders must stand firm on the Word of God in reference to the Bible theology to help Christians in strengthening their faith.”
Lae city circuit council member Paul Siru said the important thing was that the church leaders were recognised after graduating.
“The course you have taken will assist you in ministering the Gospel to Christians in the communities you live and serve in,” Siru said.
