Church members give items to TB patients
THE public-private partnership programme brings organisations and individuals together to deliver goods and services to people in need, a church elder says.
Members of the Venopauka Seventh-day Adventist church at Kama in Goroka, Eastern Highlands, partnered with the provincial hospital to support tuberculosis patients.
Household goods such as pillows, bed sheets and spreads, mops, electrical water kettles, frying pans, rice cookers and bowls were donated to the TB ward last Thursday.
Church elder Joshua Soso said they were more than happy to donate the items which cost more than K2000.
During the presentation at the Eastern Highlands Health Authority office, he said that the church hoped the items would assist the patients in improving their health.
Director of Curative Health Services Dr Kapiro Kendaura urged churches to be partners in the delivery of goods and services to the people.
“We are so grateful partner with churches,” he said.
“We will work together in partnership to deliver goods and services to our people that are in need.
“This contribution will certainly bring social comfort and the healing towards the patients in the TB ward.”
