Church plays role in human growth

Letters, Normal

I would like to congratulate the Central Papua Conference and the government for setting up the fish farming project at Bautama.
Seventh-Day Adventist church has always enjoyed growth and this project should spark new visions and hopes for members to see the church cares not only for its members’ spiritual growth but also human development in terms of practical skills growth.
I have always admired the City Mission initiative on the agriculture sector at Mirigeda.
Maybe it is also time for the people to be trained on other areas like animal husbandry as well.
I learned from early church pioneers that the church used the land to grow rice at Bautama.
Church historical records reveal that early missionaries grew vegetables at Bisiatabu (Sogeri) and would cart them down using horses.
Where has the vision gone?
I would like to encourage members and public to support such initiatives by church-based organisations and NGOs.
