MEMBERS of the Ereckta Catholic church in North Fly, Western, have received K100,000 from local MP James Donald to help complete their church building. Donald visited Ereckta village which is located along the banks of the Fly River which is about a two-hour dinghy ride from Kiunga. Last month, the staff of the North Fly development authority (DDA) accompanied Donald to present the funds to contribute towards the completion of the Ereckta Catholic church building. Among the dignitaries was DDA chief executive officer Greg Isau and Western administrator Robert Kaiyun. Donald said since 2018, one 10th (10 per cent) of all North Fly support improvement programme funds had been used to support churches. He assured the people of North Fly that the DDA would continue to prioritise spiritual development and partner with the churches. “North Fly DDA is doing little things correctly to lay a solid foundation for greater growth in our community, district, province and the country,” he said.
