A GROUP of tertiary students were told to uphold Christian values in their professional endeavours to have a positive influence on others.
Thirty-seven final–year students, who are members of the University of PNG’s Adventist Tertiary Students Association (ATSA) and university’s SDA Church, graduated during the church’s 17th in-house graduation ceremony.
It was a programme where students were given certificates of recognition from the church for being active members over the course of their studies. Church leader and guest speaker Christopher Tateng said Christian elites needed to use their talents to reach out to others and help wherever necessary.
Tateng said opportunities would come and each one would have something to do.
“Do all things whole heartedly as you are doing it for God,” he said.
Tateng urged the students to hold at heart, the principles taught in the Bible and continue to partake in spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Final–year science student Carol Mingen said there were a lot of challenges such as school fee problem but everything was possible through God.
She said she had benefitted from being part of ATSA and it had helped her stay focused on her studies.
Mingen said the choir and the weekly spiritual programmes were her favourites activities.
UPNG SDA church is made up of the university students, staff and members of the community.
