Church starts week-long camp

 THE five districts from the Central Papua Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church are attended a week-long camp in Toule, Rigo district, Central.

The camp was launched by Central Governor Kila Haoda on Monday.

With the theme “Arise and Shine, Jesus is Coming,” the camp has hundreds setting up their tents at Toule SDA Primary School grounds for the event.

Officiating at the launch of the camp, which will run until Saturday, Haoda thanked the SDA Church for its contribution to the country’s development and nation-building.

“Churches have played a very important role in Papua New Guinea’s developments and nation building,” Haoda said.

“Churches have always been on the forefront.”

Haoda said through the partnership between the Government and churches, they have achieved a lot over the years.

During the camp’s launching, Haoda donated K10,000 worth of food, which included rice, flour and noodles. 

He pledged K20,000 to the organisers of the event and a K10,000 to the ward council for hosting the event.

The organisers of the camp thanked the governor for his kind gesture.

The five districts in camp are Kwikila, Rigo, Maria, Aroma and Bisiatabu.
