Church welcomed as PNG Hunters coach

Letters

THE appointment of PNG Hunters coach Matthew Church to replace Michael Marum is very much welcomed because of his experience and wider skills and knowledge in Intrust Super Cup League.
We thank the recruiting agency and PNGNRL management in screening and selecting Church as coach.
We also thank those who have applied as well.
Nevertheless, for those who wish to be Hunters’ coach in future must meet the guidelines of Australia National Rugby League set guidelines to be a coach of any Intrust Super League Cup Coach.
And one of them is to have a Level 3 Coaching certificate.
None of PNG Digicel Cup Coaches have the certificate, apart from Michael Marum.
So going forward, my advice to Digicel Cup coaches, for the benefit of your club as well as your future career in rugby league, start getting the certificate so that you all can vie for the Hunters’ coach in future, rather than just trying to be Hunters’ Coach.
And to the new coach, the challenges are there but you are not new to those challenges faced in Intrust Super Cup and we hope and look forward that you will bring Hunters to the next and higher level in the playing field with your experience and expertise.
PNG is looking forward and will be behind you (Church) along with the players for this season.

Hunters Fan,
POM
