THE Inland Pipeline Landowners Association of the Ramu NiCo project delivered building materials to churches in the Usino-Bundi district in Madang last week.
Ramu Nico in a statement said the materials were purchased from a one per cent royalty allocation from the project’s first royalty payment of more than K25 million made last year.
Since last Wednesday, the association began distributing building materials to assist in the construction of new church buildings and pastors’ houses in the impacted communities.
Deputy chairman John Kotty and association treasurer Mikoni Weipa delivered the building materials to the churches from Naru to Ono.
Kotty said about 30 churches would be assisted in the first royalty payment allocation made last year.
He clarified that churches assisted were asked to provide their priority needs, which include completion of church buildings and the construction of pastors’ houses.
“We bought materials from the hardware houses in Madang according to the priority needs of the churches and most requested construction of new church buildings and some requested construction of pastors’ houses,” Kotty said.
Ramu NiCo Management (MCC) community affairs manager Albert Tobe was pleased with what the landowner association was doing.
