Churches meet to improve services
The National, Tuesday March 25th, 2014
CHURCH leaders are attending a one-week forum to discuss ways to improve service delivery to communities around the country.
Called the church partnership programme, the forum is hosted by seven mainstream churches with the support of Australia government.
The Government assists the churches through the Department of National Planning and Monitoring and the Department of Community Development, Youth and Religion.
The church partnership programme is held biannually. Caritas Australia will host the first part of this year.
The main areas targeted for improved services are health and education in the rural areas.
The church leaders will discuss the work of the churches in these areas and how it can be improved. The forum started yesterday in Port Moresby with leaders from various churches and officials from Government departments.
