Faith

COMMUNITY and church leaders from different denominations in Mul-Baiyer, Western Highlands, want to change their community through the Word of God.
The leaders are now preparing an Easter inter-denomination crusade to be held at Wara Kunts Primary School from Mar 26 to April 1.
Pastor Jacob Poning and Pastor John Anis, from the Assemblies of God church, and Pastor John Kuk (Soul Concerning Church) say all denominations in Mul were organising the crusade, which is expected to attract between 3000 and 4000 people.
Poning said the churches involved included Catholic, Assemblies of God, Evangelical Lutheran Church of PNG, Seventh-day Adventist, Soul Concerning, Lutheran and Reform Lutheran.
“We want to change the mindsets of our people from their bad habits and return to God,” he said.
With the theme ‘No to Demon and Return to God’, the crusade’s agenda will be based on issues affecting people. Poning said the crusade would discuss issues like sorcery, marijuana, homebrew, gambling, and prostitution.
He said the guest speaker would be Major Daniel Fungke, of the PNG Defence Force.
Major Fungke said he has accepted the invitation to attend the crusade and he and his team will pay their own expenses.
He said that they have travelled to many parts of Jiwaka and Western Highlands to share the gospel.
