Church’s Christmas programme attracts many

LIGHT the World Christmas programme attracted over 100 people to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 2-Mile outside Lae.
There were songs and dances presented by members of the church within Lae and as far as Wawin in Wampar local-level government of Huon Gulf district.
The Light the World programme was initiated in 2016 by Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and is a four-week worldwide programme of service for the month of December.
Big or small, a simple act can spread the light of Jesus Christ this Christmas.
Papua New Guinea Lae Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has celebrated the Light the World programme every year since the initiative was launched in 2016.
In 2016 and 2017, the Light the World programme held at the 2-Mile chapel and Angau Memorial Hospital. However, in 2018, the programme involving missionaries from PNG, Tonga, Samoa, New Zealand, Fiji, Kiribati, and the United States of America performed Christmas carols and cultural dances from their homelands.
Main event of the of the ‘Light the World’ Christmas programme was the different cultures of the Pacific Islands performed by missionaries representing each island.
The presentation by the missionaries was the third after travelling to Madang and Goroka recently to spread the message of Christmas through culture.
The message of the Light The World programme was simply to remind everyone that Jesus Christ, the Light of the World, spent much of His ministry caring for individuals.
This Christmas, people were invited you to follow Jesus’ example and find ways to share their time, love, and resources with those in need.
