COFFEE Industry Corporation acting chief executive officer Anton Benjamin says the industry has a bright future despite what all the harbingers of gloom and doom are saying.

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill will be launching the corporation’s strategic and corporate plans and initiatives to revitalise the industry in Goroka tomorrow.

“The future is not all gloom and doom, it’s bright,” Benjamin said.

“CIC, through the strategic plan and the corporate plan, are now focused on growing the industry. We want to bring in more investment into the industry.

“We believe that we can look forward to an increase in volume of coffee.

“We believe that with the programmes that we have, we will see an increase in quality of coffee.

“Eventually, with the facilities that are now available for our people to participate – licensing, partnership arrangement, government putting more money into infrastructure, law and order, SMEs, and of course the government putting more money into coffee – I think we’re going to transform this country.”
