Circular economy vital: Expert

A CIRCULAR economy will be the path towards sustainable and environmentally-friendly business practices in Papua New Guinea and the Pacific region, an expert says.
Alexander Welzl, from an Austrian high level expert group on plastic marine litter, was speaking during a panel discussion on climate and disaster resilience for SMEs: mitigating and adapting to ensure sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific.
The panel was part of the Asia-Pacific Business Forum in Port Moresby on Friday.
Welzl said new business trends could be developed through reusing wastes like plastic.
“I think that there is a great potential in setting up collaborations between corporations especially in recycling technologies in Europe with Pacific communities,” he said.
