CITIFON, a mobile product of Telikom PNG, announced its new standard rates yesterday after 11 months of promotional rates.
The standard rates replaced the launch offer of 2 toea per minute call rate for Citifon and 39 toea per minute to the other networks.
The announcement was made by Telikom head of commercial, Xavier Victor at Telikom head office in Port Moresby.
Victor said as a nationally-owned company, Telikom was eager to be accountable to its customers and communicate its new rates.
“The launch offer was to welcome customers to connect and experience the Citifon service. The customer demand for the past 11 months has been overwhelming,” he said.
“Provided the improving customer base, we are now announcing the standard rates which we believe is competitive with those of our competitors.”
Victor said the standard rates might be viewed as an increase but the rates were competitive with other mobile competitors.
The standard rates only apply to their call rates while Citifon’s SMS rates of 1 toea Citifon-to-Citifon and 10 toea to other networks remains. The standard rates come into effect as of today.
“However, promotional rates will be offered on occasions and loyal customers can expect to be rewarded for utilising the Citifon service to communicate with colleagues, friends and family,” Victor said.
Using the new standard rates, he said Citifon callers calling Citifon would be charged 68 toea for the first minute and 39 toea for the second minute and thereafter.
Telikom’s group product manager Polume Lume said Citifon would start its triple call credit promotion this month for Citifon customers.
Lume said the triple credit promotion was cheap and convenient.
He said despite the new standard rates, customers could get real value for their airtime by tripling their credits when purchasing K5 or K10 Rait or Telikad.
