City boss disappointed

LAE City have expressed disappointment over how they were presented the Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League (NSL) minor premiership after the end of the regular season on Saturday.
City owner Ian Chow told The National yesterday that there was no formal presentation following their goalless draw with Vitiaz United at Papua New Guinea Football Stadium in Port Moresby.
The Bob Morris-coached side finished one point ahead of second-placed Hekari United and six in front of Vitiaz who finished third after 18 rounds of the regular season.
Gulf Komara sneaked into the top-four finals at the expense of the Tusbab Stallions who lost 0-3 to Hekari at Lae’s Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium.
“The NSL could not organise a formal presentation,” Chow said.
“There wasn’t any representative from them (NSL and Papua New Guinea Football Association) to make presentation.
“There wasn’t any trophy, instead they just gave us a banner.
“They (organisers) had enough time to prepare and make a formal presentation.
“This is a semi-professional competition and it’s sad.”
Competition manager Dimirit Mileng said the NSL had encountered some issues but they would make a formal presentation in the coming weeks.
“We will have a discussion with the board and we’ll organise a formal presentation,” he said.
“Our office is open to answer any of the franchise’s queries.”
Meanwhile, Chow said he was not satisfied with the performances of his reigning champions heading into the business end of the season.
“But we are looking forward to the finals,” he said.
Meanwhile, the NSL will announce the semifinal fixtures today.
