City edge Consort to win Northern Conference title

CITY United FC claimed the Football Federation Papua New Guinea Northern Conference club championship after beating Consort 1-0 in the extra time on Monday.
In the women’s final Prima Power of Lahi Soccer Association took the honors unseating Bara FC 4-2 in a penalty shootout.
Both United and Consort had their chances but could not find the mark.
The match was forced into extra time after both sides ended 0-0.
In the 94th minute, United’s Alex Kamen sailed the ball past Consort goalkeeper Epha Rufus for the match winner.
United then battened down the hatches and kept a desparate Consort out for the final five mintes of extra time.
United recieved K2000 plus the cup while Consort got K1,000.
In the women’s competition, Prima Power walked off with the cup and the K2000 winners’ prize money and runners-up Bara got K1000. United and Consort (men) and Prima Power and Bara (women)will represent the Northern Conference in the FFPNG-sanction national club championships in September.
