Lae City will travel to New Zealand for their OFC Champions League quarter-final clash without three of their key players.
Coach Peter Gunemba confirmed yesterday that Emmanuel Simon, and Solomon Islanders iTutizama Tanito and Andrew Rarangia were unable to secure their visas on time.
“We tried all we could to have the paperwork sorted out on time but were unsuccessful,” Gunemba said.
“We will miss their services, but we have some good players who can fill in.
“We still have players like Raymond Gunemba, Nigel Dabinyaba, Obert Bika, Jacob Sabua Valentine Nelson and others so we’re confident.
“It is important to remain positive despite the circumstances and our players understand that.
“Our performance in the National Soccer League (NSL) has been overwhelming and we want to do well in the quarter-final.
“We have made it this far and we know we can go that extra mile. We just have to believe in ourselves.
“I don’t like to doubt my players.
“I trust every player in my team even though we will be missing three of our key men.”
The defending NSL champions arrived in Port Moresby yesterday from Lae and will leave for New Zealand today.
Toti will be playing against Team Wellington who were runners-up off in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
