LITTLE-known Hydrolics football club in the Rigula Soccer League in West New Britain was the proud recipient of new uniforms courtesy of Port Moresby-based security company Corporate Executive Guards Limited.

Team manager Timothy Luckson could not hide his happiness when thanking the firm’s director Steven Kilage for lending a helping hand.

“This is the first time such sponsorship is coming all the way from Port Moresby — a rare thing for a rural football competition in the province,” he said.

He said Rigula Soccer League was a new competition into its second year and provided sports and recreation for employees of New Britain Palm Oil Limited.

Kilage said his firm agreed to sponsor uniforms for Hydrolics  men’s and the women’s teams as they were doing well in the competition.

The men’s team is running fifth while their female counterparts leading their competition.

Kilage called on business houses in the country to support their local sporting teams.

He said West New Britain was known for Australian rules football, but encouraged companies operating in the province to chip in and assist other codes as well.
