LAE City are looking to cement their lead at the summit of the Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League ladder with a win over arch rivals Hekari United in the top-of-the-table clash at Papua New Guinea Football Stadium in Port Moresby tomorrow (3pm kick-off).
Coach Bob Morris told The National on Wednesday that far from their minds was the controversy surrounding the transfer of former City forwards Raymond Gunemba and Nigel Dabinyaba.
“This is the game we have been waiting for,” the former national men’s team coach said.
“So much has happened.
“We copped a lot of criticism with the changes in the team early in the year.
“But this is the moment to secure bragging rights.
“My men are all fired up for this one. Last week’s 5-0 win over Gulf wasn’t really satisfying.
“We got off to a slow start but we were able to dominate.
“But for Hekari, we will hit the ground running and we will not leave anything in the tank.
“Hekari are not new to us.
“We watched some of their plays last week and we have put in place a game plan to take them down.
“I trust skipper Emmanuel Simon.
“I’m also counting on (former Tusbab Stallion) Stahl Gubag to improve after his debut last week.
“I’m confident Alwin Komolong will rise to the contest as well.
“Obert Bika is back again, Philip Steven, Jacob Sabua, they are all in good form. We can’t wait for Hekari — bring it on.” Fixtures: Sat, Aug 14 – Kutubu v Gulf Komara, Star Mountain v Bougainville, Tusbab Stallions v Morobe United, Vitiaz United v Morobe Wawens, Hekari United v Lae City.

  • Coach Bob. Morris stop talking and prove it tomorrow.(2 old dogs are there watch out) I am die hard but not without my idol Raymond Gunamemba.

I dont think city will compete with gas bottle.

  • Am a follower of Raymond and Nigel. As the critique of City Coach, all I can say is in the field of play is different things with words of expectations. Lets wait till the blow of last whistle.
