City hospital records 30 New Year babies

THERE were 30 proud mothers on News Year’s day at Port Moresby General Hospital.
Female babies were outnumbered by males this year, and with a higher record than last year’s record.
The 11 females were outnumbered by the males who recorded the highest number of 19 for this year’s New Year day.
This year’s number is slightly higher than that of last year which recorded only 20 births, sister-in-charge Alice Baira said yesterday.
She said the heaviest baby this year weighed 4kg and was from Enga.
June Hauraheala from Ihu, Gulf, was a first proud mother at the PMGH on Saturday to welcome the New Year with the birth of her son.
And what a way to start the year of then with her first bundle of joy when she delivered her bouncy son at 1.20am on Saturday.
The excited mother and husband Justin Kintau from Madang were thrilled at the arrival of their child who weighed 3.2kg.
