City league appoints interim executive board
The National, Thursday May 1st, 2014
THE Port Moresby Rugby Football League (POMRFL) has formalised their full interim board to ensure the administration is back on track.
Following the go-ahead given by the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League (PNGRFL) for the appointment of Dr James Naipao, pictured, as interim chairmen, the appointments of the rest of the interim executives were made during a recent board meeting.
The PNGRFL also gave the interim executive a term of reference with conditions set to abide. One of those conditions is for the interim executive to get their house in order over a six weeks period before they hold a special annual general meeting to vote in directors and office bearers of the POMRFL board.
With the need to resurrect the corporate image of the country’s premier competition, Dr Naipao is happy that the affiliate’s representatives who have put their hand up to work with him are reputable people with good standing in the community.
The interim appointees are Dobo Warriors club president Wari Varage (deputy chairman), Magani club vice-president Jack Kedea (treasurer), Wests club president Manu Lofena (junior vice-chairman), Brothers club president Sebby Lume (secretary), Butterflies club president Samuel Sii (business development director) and Hohola Flies club president Ben Kaupa (match and referee’s director).
In welcoming the new appointees, Dr Naipao said he has full trust in the people appointed and was looking forward to all contributing in a team effort to resurrect the image of the POMRFL.
