THE Port Moresby Suburban League will kick off with the Super Nines on March 13-15 at the Kone Tigers Oval, Port Moresby.

League chairman Billy Aki said current affiliates from the 2014 season will compete in the three-day nines competition, using it as preseason trials for the teams.

A special general meeting was held yesterday at Kone Tigers Oval for the confirmation of teams, affiliation fees and player registration.

He said there would be a two weeks break on July 4-18 — during the season proper — for the 2015 Pacific Games and resumes on July 25.

“This will be the final round before the top eight is confirmed for the playoffs,” Aki said.

The chairman urged all club managements to comply with the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League’s by-laws and regulations for medical clearance, payment of affiliation and player registrations.

Teams would be advised of the deadline for registration after the PMSL executive committee met.

“This is not a new thing, it has being existing in sports for a long time and failing to comply may jeopardise their chances to compete in the league,” the chairman said.

He acknowledged National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop’s continued financial support to the league since he was mandated.

The chairman said Parkop’s support had paved the way for PMSL to affiliate to the PNGRFL.

Aki said all the players were now scattered to NCD’s four PNGRFL-affiliates — Suburban, POM league, South Settlement and new affiliate Hohola.
