MARKETS in Lae resumed operations on Tuesday allowing vendors to sell fresh garden produce after being away for three months.
Malahang and 13A markets along Busu Road, allowed vendors to sell garden produce.
Malahang market spokeswoman Rebecca Philemon said the most affected people were mothers who relied on their vending to earn a living.
“Our children need school fees, public transport fares, school uniforms and face masks, and we need food to sustain our families,” Philemon said. “We faced a big challenge when the markets were closed.”
Malahang market owner Henry Bumalom said committee members last week re-arranged the floor plan of the market in compliance with social distancing and good hygiene practices.
