City Pharmacy Ltd (CPL) group has yet again invested in a multi-million kina store to extend its Hardware Haus business arm.

With the concept Do It Yourself (DIY), the new hardware store Haus Depot, is a place where one can check for tools and other required items needed for home, hobby and garden needs.

During the opening of the K7 million investment yesterday, retail complex manager David Foreman said “The business was able to create a hundred-plus new employments for Port Moresby citizens. And one thing that we are very proud of as well is that we have 50% of females on the team here.

“We’re looking forward to engaging the community in a number of areas, learning centres, DIY products and the brand and products that we have on offer,” he said.

“The DIY concept is in conjunction with our DIY learning centre. We will be showcasing through supplier commitment, showing Port Moresby and Papua New Guineans, how to do some sort of basic home improvement such as, how to paint, how to lay floor tiles, how to install windows, and a number of aspects that encompass the whole home.

“And through that we have a range of products that obviously would be a good so we will have items that have good value for the PNG community.”

Foreman said selling tools alone was not enough because a skilled contractor would know how to use them, but those not in the building profession would need some education on application.

The store houses different sections of the hardware business including plumbing, building materials, doors and windows, building hardware, sinks and varieties, electrical tool shop, paint, lawn and garden, outdoor living, flooring among others.

The property has an approximate sales surface of 3,000 square metres and is located within premises of CPL’s Waigani Central supermarket.
