THE City Pharmacy Ltd group has picked five small-medium enterprises (SMEs) products featured during the SME Breakfast in Port Moresby last Friday to retail at its stores.
Business Breakfast organiser Nancy Lai-Runawery said this during the report presentation to major sponsor Kumul Consolidated Holdings (KCH) Ltd chief executive officer Isikeli Taureka.
The event featured emerging SMEs in small scale manufacturing in line with the Government’s agenda on agriculture.
Gudi peanut butter from Alotau, home-made jams also from Alotau, Frieda’s honey from Jiwaka, Mohone coffee from Goroka and soap from BOU Resource Development Corporative Society also from Alotau were picked.
“All five SME products were picked up by City Pharmacy’s Stop & Shop and will be retailed in the coming weeks after the producers tie up a few loose ends,” Lai-Runawery said.
“Overall, this is a milestone, the first ever supply-chain inclusion for SMEs.
“These five products, by definition, are fast moving consumer goods and will transcend into turning over a million kina for the respective SMEs with goods and services tax (GST) benefiting in its value chain.
“We can conclude that KCH has enabled the growth of five SMEs and their first million kina venture.”
The event was held in accordance with pandemic regulations and the Hilton Hotel’s protocols.
The original list of 280 guests was reduced to 100.
