City police launch festive operations, receive donation

NATIONAL Capital District (NCD) police launched their Christmas and New Year crime prevention operations yesterday, NCD Metropolitan Supt Perou N’dranou said.
“The operation will only end in the first week of January,” he said, adding that he was pleased with business houses who responded to his request for help in kind for the operation.
Supt N’dranou spoke at the presentation of K20,000 worth of goodies by the PNG Fujian Entrepreneurs Association to be distributed at the crime prevention operations.
The goodies included noodles, biscuits, tea, coffee, milk powder and other edibles.
Supt N’dranou and senior police officers who were present a the occasion thanked the Chinese community for their support.
“I had written 20 letters requesting business houses in NCD to help police but only three responded by donating food items,” he said.
“The policemen will use the food items during their day and night operations in the city to ensure a trouble-free Christimas and New Year holiday.”
Association president Yanshun Yan said: “We were happy to help the police when we received the request letter from the Met Supt.
“We will always work closely to support the police.”
