THE changes at the temporary Unagi bus stop is a good idea that the National Capital District Commission, the Road Transport Authority and the police have done.
Route No.17 bus driver Greg George said passengers were now free to move and catch buses to go to work, school or do other businesses in the city.
George said police presence at the stop had made it safer.
“I am happy because I can see the passengers moving freely at the bus stop to get on the buses because there are not many people around.”
Police Minister Bryan Kramer also visited the bus stop yesterday to see police operations being carried out at the area.
The police presence at the Unagi bus stop was organised by acting police commissioner David Manning in partnership with National Capital District urban safety unit.
Kramer in a Facebook post said up to 30 police reserve officers including a division of K9 Dog unit would be deployed on a full time basis to patrol the bus stop in an effort to ensure greater public safety.
The operation started on Wednesday.
