A GROUP of civil servants in Enga attended a course last week on subjects such as leadership and governance organised by the Pacific Institute of Leadership and Governance.
More than 40 officers from the district and provincial administrations covered leadership and governance, public administration, human resource management, financial administration and information and communications technology over the two weeks.
Institute chief executive Michael Barobe said they provided capacity development for public servants.
“We enhance public sector performance by providing needs-based training for public servants at the national and subnational levels,” he said. “We are focused on ethical leadership, strategic planning and corporate services.
“This is done in partnership with the Australian government through the Pacific Leadership and Governance Precinct.”
The closing ceremony on Friday was attended by Enga Governor Sir Peter Ipatas, administrator Dr Samson Amean, Department of Personnel Management deputy secretary Vele Ravugamini and Australian High Commission second secretary Steve Burns.
The training also covered the principles of gender equity, social inclusion, and ethics and values-based leadership that would continue to improve the public sector performance.
