Civilian attacked by cops

A WESTERN Highlander claimed he was a victim of the police brutality at the Boroko police station on Monday.
Wilson Chucks and his friend Simon Yako from Tambul-Nebilyer went to Boroko to have lunch at about 2pm when more than 12 armed police officers in uniform approached them and started dragging them out of the car without explaining what they had done wrong.
“They dragged us out, got my car keys and started hitting me with the guns they were holding,” Chucks said.
He said Yako, who was on the passenger seat, sustained bruises to his arms.
He said they asked him whether he was the owner of the vehicle.
“When I said yes, they started punching me,” he said.
He dropped to the ground and was gun-butted on the back of his head. He said a boot landed on his forehead.
He said they dragged him to the Boroko police station interview room and left him there without laying any formal charges.
Chucks said his vehicle taken away by the officers had not been returned.
