LAWYERS who were admitted to the bar last week have been advised to be wary of the backlog of court cases which is an ongoing problem and trend.
Chief Justice Sir Salamo Injia told the 70 new lawyers to be effective and efficient when dealing with their clients’ cases.
Sir Salamo said they should have pity on those who were underprivileged, and to be compassionate when charging their fees.
He said the courts were occupied with fresh cases and a backlog of previous matters.
The backlog is understood to be mostly due to lawyers seeking adjournments or when client- lawyer agreements fail.
Sir Salamo urged the new lawyers to try to avoid being included in the list of backlog cases.
