POLICE are clamping down on defective vehicles and unlicenced drivers in the southern part of Bougainville, Buin police station commander John Popul said.

“Over the weekend, we did a successful operation and conducted awareness on road safety,” he said.

“The community and business houses were happy with our efforts and provided fuel and food for us.

“We were checking on defective vehicles, unlicenced drivers and unregistered vehicles. We are now implementing traffic rules in Buin.”

Popul said business houses were happy with the operation and urged them to continue.

“We will start again on Thursday and will continue for another two months. The business houses will support us.”
