Clarify Morobe’s business arms

Letters

I AM not an expert in the mining industry to either support or object Samson Napo’s suggestion (The National, Jan 19) for a gold bullion bank to be set in Lae to capture the gold outputs from Morobe’s Hidden Valley and Wafi-Golpu mines.
However, I do question his wisdom in suggesting that such an idea should be done under Morobe’s ‘business arm’ – Morobe Resource Holdings Ltd.
Since when did this company become the province’s business arm?
If it has then what happened to Kum-Gie Holdings Ltd, its long time recognised business arm?
I have asked this question in the print media numerous times in the past and no one in the provincial government have had the courtesy to tell me and the people of Morobe what’s going on with both companies.
The people of Morobe need answers, please.
