THE country will take advantage of the Expo 2020 in Dubai in October to market its clean energy sector, says PNG Ambassador to Belgium and the European Union Joshua Kalinoe.
Kalinoe was speaking during the launching of the PNG World Expo 2020 website and logo last Thursday in Port Moresby.
He said the country’s energy sector was an important area that could lure investors.
“Our story will be anchored on the friendly and sustainable use of our natural resources,” he said.
“We are a country of opportunities and mysteries, with diversity in unity.
“That’s the story to tell. The story will continue onto the international arena that PNG has been leading the discussions on the conservation of our environment including the rainforest.
“We will also tell the rest of the world how PNG is contributing to the healthy lungs of the world, reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation and conservation sites that we have preserved.
‘“We will tell the world to join us to put money into developing these conservation sites.
“There are millionaires and billionaires that want to invest in clean energy. They want to assist us to protect the environment.
“We will be talking about mobility, on how we can mobilise our resources and connect internationally.
“We will also be taking some of our energy projects to Dubai as well for funding.
“That’s a good story to tell.
“It’s about clean energy.
“We will also be talking about the services sector, for example tourism.”
Kalinoe said the PNG story would be told through the pavilions.
“Our pavilions will have certain events that we will invite individuals to go and tell their story at our events,” he said.
“They will also tell their story at the expo organised, the weekly events. All the aspects of doing business will tell their own stories.”
