Climate change

Letters

IT is hardly surprising that ‘Australia has lost Pacific’s trust on climate change’ (Sydney Morning Herald, Aug 16) when Australian PM Scott Morrision dogmatically maintained that he was only accountable to the Australian people.
New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern had said Australia has to answer to the Pacific on its stance on climate change.
If what Morrision said is not your classic ‘toad in the well’ take on the global climate change crisis, pray tell me what is?
It’s that kind of Australian state attitude that might explain why Pacific island countries are increasingly gravitating towards China.
