‘Clothes drive’ for kids

HELA health authority (PHA) chief executive officer Dr James Kintwa launched a clothes donation drive on Tuesday for disadvantage children in Koroba-Kopiago.
Kintwa initiated the drive after seeing pictures of children without adequate clothing taken by health workers during their polio vaccination visit to Wanikipa, Aluni, Ambi, Dodomona, Yokona, Wisky, Maliali, Kopiago, Paga and Trailiva villages.
“My office has opened up a donation drive around the province and we’re calling for donations of clothes for those in need,” he said.
“Any clothing or items that you are not using would be valuable to others in this province.”
Kintwa’s office called for public and private institutions as well as individuals, families and churches around the province to donate.
“Let’s stay connected to the family of God with our donations for the poor and disadvantaged families.”
Kintwa said the health authority was ready to distribute the resources and services to the population.
“Caring is giving to those who may not be able to give back,” he said.
“The PHA has not accomplished its mission yet if it cannot reach everyone.
“We will walk the rough paths, climb the mountains and valleys, cross the rivers and into fighting zones during our national immunisation programme to reach the poor, sick, dying and disadvantaged.”
