THE Rotary Club of Port Moresby donated two 20-foot containers of beds to the Port Moresby General Hospital last week to support its operation.
It cost about K50,000 to get them here.
Director of community service for the club Adam Hughes said as the Covid-19 pandemic spread throughout the world, there was hardship and every individual and organisation should share what they had to make sure that the spread of the virus was contained.
Hughes said in doing that, rotary members and participants were innovating and caring for those affected and also found ways to help and do more to prevent the spread of the virus.
“As people of action, we are engaged in the communities gathering for projects and offering help to those in need,” he said.
“But in many areas, life is changing drastically.
“Health experts are urging people to maintain distance from others or even isolate themselves in order to slow the spread of the highly transmittable virus.”
Club president Lavinia Gangloff said the club took its role in the community “very seriously” and club members were always willing to serve the community on short notice.
