The National, Tuesday 1st of April, 2014
A Lions Club will be established in Madang this weekend, Madang Lions Club president Joseph Natera says.
“Lions clubs are groups of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfil those needs,” he said.
“They have aided the blind and visually impaired and made a strong commitment to community service and have served youths throughout the world.
“This Saturday, 34 men and women will celebrate a charter night of the Madang Lions Club.”
Natera said the 2012 Lions district governor Gary Kenny would arrive from Australia to present the members with their official charter.
He said members of the Tabubil Lions Club, who sponsored the Madang Lions Club, would attend.
Kenny said: “I am proud to welcome these men and women into Lions. Madang will be proud to have such a fine group serving their community.”
