Lae City Dwellers striker Nigel Dabinyaba is pleased with the club’s achievement in qualifying for the OFC Champions League quarterfinals in its third appearance.
“Qualifying for the quarterfinals is a great achievement and we played as a team to make this happen so everyone deserves the credit,” Dabinyaba said.
“Since day one we have worked hard and to make the quarterfinals in the club’s third year in the OFC Champions League is a big achievement not only for Lae City Dwellers but for football in our country.
“Dwellers is a new team and I must not lie about that, most of our boys still need that experience of playing at the higher level. I think we have raised the bar a little but there is a lot more work that needs to be done in order for us to be a very competitive side in the OFC Champions League.
“I spent one year away from the team and coming back I have seen a lot of difference. I had some options to go play elsewhere but I decided to come and play with the Lae City Dwellers because I want to help the younger players.
“We prepared well for the OFC Champions League and as a senior player in the side along with Raymond Gunemba, we tried our best to share our experience and knowledge with the rest of the team.”
The Dwellers will resume their NSL matches this weekend as Toti City FC against Southern Strikers.
Their opponents for the OFC quarterfinals will be announced after all group matches.
