BANK South Pacific group chief executive officer Ian Clyne says he has given 100% of his heart and soul to serving the bank.

As he prepares to step down from the role he has served with distinction, pride and passion for almost five years, he told a press conference it was a hard decision.

“I am extremely proud of what Bank South Pacific has accomplished since my arrival in October 2008.

“Many people did not believe we could change and modernise BSP as much as we have,” he said.

Clyne was appointed as chief executive officer by the BSP board on Oct 17, 2008.

He has had distinguished career in banking and finance.

His most recent appointment is executive vice-president and managing director of the ING Bank Slaski Group in Poland.

A Bachelor of Business graduate from the Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia, Clyne has held a number of

senior appointments in Australia, PNG, Pakistan, Hong Kong, China, France, UK, Singapore, Indonesia, Italy and Poland during a career with the Indosuez Bank, ING Barings and Lippo Bank.

Prior to embarking on an international banking career, Clyne worked in PNG with Nambawan Finance Ltd and Indoniu Finance from 1980 to 1986.

He is a highly experienced emerging market banker and has been the president, director, managing director and chief executive officer of universal banking operations with extensive branch networks and large employee bases.

Clyne also successfully re-engineered banks in Indonesia, Italy, Poland and PNG.

He was instrumental and the driving force behind BSP’s rebranding and transformation.

BSP today has the largest branch, rural and electronic banking network in PNG, Fiji and the Solomon Islands.

Clyne has congratulated Robin Fleming on his deserved appointment as his replacement.
