QUEENSLAND Reds wider training squad coach Peter Wilkins has rated Pettowa Paraka one of the best up and coming props in Queensland, Australia

Wilkins who is also the Queensland Reds A coach – the development squad said the young PNG player will continue to get match experience at the ‘A’ team level.

Queensland Reds A is currently taking part in the 2014 Pacific Rugby Cup which involves Force A, Fiji Warriors and Junior Japan in Pool A while Pool B has Gen Blue (New South Wales), Australian Capital Territory A, Samoa A, Tonga A and Argentina.

Coach Wilkins made the comment after watching Paraka playing the opening game of the 2014 Pacific Rugby Cup last Friday in Pert, Western Australia.

Paraka played the game at loose head prop the entire match for Reds ‘A’ against Force ‘A’ where the Queenslanders lost 29-23.

Wilkins said the Western Highlander had an excellent game, particularly effective at the scrum and breakdown, as well as having some strong ball carries in general play.

He was well supported by compatriot, Nigel Genia, who came on to play the final 10 minutes at scrum half.
