INTEREST in netball in East New Britain is increasing as the preseason heads into round two this weekend at the Takubar courts in Kokopo.

ENB Netball president, Dorothy Tobata said a large number of young girls turned up at the courts last weekend for the start of the 2013 season.

Tobata said she was optimistic this year would be exciting for junior netball development now that the four-weekend preseason had started.

She said despite the interest, the province needed the support of everyone.

Tobata appealed to business houses, the government, non-government organisations and interested groups or people to help.

She said sponsorship for the code in the province would be welcome.

She said the junior competition was expected to increase following Kabaleo, Kokopo and Water House primary schools and a side from Warangoi taking part in the Under-13 and U15 divisions.

The Vunapope and Rabaul international schools were expected to take part, plus a number of primary schools.

The senior competition comprises eight clubs of Ravens, Gernic Stars, Vudal-UNRE, Gaiters, PNG Balsa, ACE, ENBDC took to the courts last weekend with Nojonah and Greenhouse expected to turn up this weekend.
